With the Anaheim Ducks looking to get younger this off season they made an interesting move Tuesday by trading defensemen Marc-Andre Bergeron to the Minnesota Wild for a third round draft pick in this year draft.
“Marc-Andre is an offensively skilled defenseman who will add puck-moving ability and a good point shot to our team,” said Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough.
The 27 year old blue liner appeared in 55 games between Anaheim and the New York Islanders during the 2007-08 season. In those 55 games he recorded 19 points. In 267 career NHL games, the 5-10, 197-pound defenseman has scored 48 goals, 80 assists for a total of 128 points with 131 penalty minutes.
Bergeron was acquired by Anaheim on Feb. 26, 2008 from the Islanders in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Bergeron will add experienced depth to the Wild blue line and is a great acquisition for Minnesota.
